Google confirms problems with reaching its services.

Sources from Google have confirmed that there was disruption of access to some of its services on Thursday morning.  The trouble was brought to notice after reports started coming in, that users had difficulty in accessing Google News, Gmail, Google Apps and even Google.com.

“We’re aware some users are having trouble accessing some Google services,” said Gabriel Stricker, a Google spokesman, in his e-mail message. “We’re looking into it, and we’ll update everyone soon.”

The depth of the malfunctioning was not clear initially but reports soon started spreading that the fault widespread. Soon the Twitter pages started getting filled with messages about Google’s troubles.  In the mean time reports from experts like CNet stated that the problem is haunting users worldwide.  Certain other s reported that the disruption might have happened only to certain Internet service providers like AT & T.

The disruption was soon resolved.

PS - A statement from Google said that the problem has been solved, but the origin of the malfunctioning was not revealed.  “The issue affecting some Google services has been resolved. We’re sorry for the inconvenience, and we’ll share more details soon,” the company said.

Urs Hoelzle, senior vice president for operations, Google, in his blog said that the trouble occurred from an error ‘that routed much of Google’s traffic through Asia’.  He also mentioned that the malfunction had affected about 14 percent of the Google users.
